Internet access at Amber Inn Bed & Breakfast

Our guests can now enjoy free wireless access to the Internet (Wi-Fi)!

To connect to the Internet, bring your laptop or notebook with you, as well as a Wi-Fi (802.11b) compatible card, if your notebook does not have such a device built-in. If you are not sure whether your notebook can connect to the Internet wirelessly, you can try to do that at your nearest Starbucks or Borders store: many of them (although not all) offer Wi-Fi access to the Internet from within the store. If you can connect to the Internet there, chances are you will be able to connect to the Internet from our location, as well.

Please note that we only allow the guests staying at our house to use our wireless Internet connection. Also please note that to ensure that all guests can enjoy high-speed connection, we impose the following usage restrictions that we expect our guests to comply with:

You may use our Internet connection for simple web browsing and email messaging only.

You may NOT use the Internet connection at our location to do any activity that may result in consuming large amounts of bandwidth, such as (but not limited to):

No downloading of large files. Please turn off the automatic updates your notebook may have enabled before connecting to the Internet, because such updates can often result in downloading large files. You can resume the automatic updates when you return home.
No sending or receiving of large photographs. Photo images are often large in size, and sending or receiving them can quickly consume your daily bandwidth limit. Please postpone sending photos to your friends and family until you return home or stay at some other location.
No MP3 or other music downloads, no listening to the Internet radio, no file sharing activities, no movie watching over the Internet, no other activities that can consume large amounts of bandwidth. You can resume doing all that when you return home.
No illegal activities over the Internet. We will report any illegal activity to the authorities.

To summarize, let us repeat again: you may use the Internet connection for simple web browsing or email messaging only. No other use of the Internet is allowed. We reserve the right to monitor your use of the Internet. If we detect that you are using an unusually large amount of bandwidth, we reserve the right to disable your access to our wireless network without a notice.
